Viewfields - Where Tradition Meets Contemporary Living

The design for Viewfields takes inspiration from the classic five-bay Jersey farmhouse, giving this familiar local style a fresh, modern twist. We’ve used traditional materials such as granite, render, and slate to reflect the character of the surrounding area, while keeping the overall look simple, elegant, and true to Jersey’s architectural heritage.

To ensure the home feels well-proportioned and settled into its setting, smaller wings have been added to the north and west, with a light-filled orangery to the south. These elements reduce the sense of height and scale, helping the building blend naturally into the landscape.

The layout and form of the new house follow the shape and feel of neighbouring buildings. By keeping the overall profile low and well balanced, the design complements the area while still offering the comfort and benefits of modern living.

The home is positioned to make the most of natural light and to capture stunning views across the fields to the east. Large windows on the ground floor help create a strong connection between the interior and the landscape, while the main structure remains in line with the footprint of the original building.

Privacy has been a key consideration throughout the design process. Following early and positive discussions with neighbours to the south and west, the first-floor windows were carefully planned to avoid overlooking. Roof lights on these sides are set higher (starting at 1750mm from floor level), and secondary windows on the west elevation use obscure glazing to maintain privacy while still allowing light into the home.
