Managing Director
Ian Marett is a committed and passionate locally born RIBA Chartered Architect with over 35 years of experience in the industry. He commenced his career in working for a well-respected local practice, while undertaking a BTEC in Building Studies, then later attending University to qualify as an RIBA qualified Architect.
During and after his time at university, Ian spent periods working for some renowned Jersey and UK architectural practices. Including, W H Saunders & Son Architects – Southampton, J Douglas Smith Architects - Jersey, and Adams Poole Architects – Hampshire, working on a wide range of projects.
For Ian’s year out in industry, Ian secured an internship position in the main design studio of S/L/A/M Collaborative, Connecticut, USA, who are the leading Architects in Education, Student Accommodation and Healthcare in New England. Then after university, Ian gained further experience at the award winning practice Format Milton Architects Limited working predominantly on Historic Listed Buildings, Residential and Education projects.
Ian moved to Australia after becoming professionally qualified, where he was employed by another award winning practice Toon Architects Group in Bendigo, Victoria, which predominantly focused on residential projects, social housing, retail, offices, primary and secondary education, University projects and art galleries.
Ian moved back to Jersey and joined Morris Architects Limited in 2006 becoming a Director in 2007 and a shareholder in 2016. He is now the majority shareholder.
During his time with Morris Architects, Ian has been instrumental in the development of the practice’s focus on quality in the procurement and documentation of information to aid in the successful delivery of projects. As the designer, technical and project lead, Ian has procured a wide range of projects, from £10K to £55M in areas including new builds and retrofitting, residential, charities, commercial, healthcare and retail projects from inception through to completion with both private and public clients.
Ian has received numerous awards for the buildings in which he has been involved, and in 2022, Ian received the JeCC’s highest accolade of the Industry Achiever of the Year.
