La Cotte
Design of a residence in replacement of an existing restaurant within the Coastal National Park.
The Practice was tasked with designing a single high-end 9,600 sq. foot residence to replace an existing beachside café on a prominent site located in the Coastal National Park as designated by the Island Plan.
Despite the site's long planning history, detailed negotiations with the planning department were undertaken to meet their restrictions and develop a design that would allow all living accommodation to benefit from the uninterrupted views of the bay.
The resulting approved design, based on three levels, includes a basement with a large car park, gym, sauna, games room, and plant room, a middle level with a lounge, study, dining room, kitchen, utility, and sunroom, and an upper floor with four ensuite bedrooms. The levels are connected by a feature stair and lift.
