Southampton Hotel
Winner of the “Most Iconic Building in Jersey Over the Past 20 Years” at the 2025 Jersey Construction Awards.
The project entailed the partial demolition of the listed buildings located at 14-16 Weighbridge Place, with the original façade of the 1899 building being preserved.
A new five-storey structure was erected behind the retained façade, providing four floors of office space and a ground-floor restaurant. The construction process involved an intricate temporary engineering frame solution for the retained façade, ensuring its stability and protection during the work. Additionally, underpinning of the adjacent buildings was required while the basement level was constructed.
The result is a successful integration of the historic and contemporary elements, creating a visually striking and functional space.
