North Coast House
Jersey
Project Brief: The design has been based on a cross between the international style and elements of art deco to provide a smooth, simple, regimented façade, using a play between levels, openings and single roof plane. This provides a strategy within the façade, which has been proportioned to be open toward the bay, whilst it has a more enclosed strategy toward the road, providing simple openings within the play of render and stone, using a domestic language.
Predominantly elevations are a combination of render with stone with high performing windows, accented in different planes. The roof has an oversailing cornice to provide a simple, but effective, cap to the building, which also is interplayed and broken up with panels of render and granite to break up the roofline and soften the design.
